A letter from Paul L'Heureux, Chariman, Fund Raising Committee American Legion Post 153
____________________________________________________
I must start out by thanking those that made a contribution last year for our second annual fundraiser for our American Legion Baseball Team. These funds were needed to offset our continued support for veteran's families left behind and now for the support of the returning veteran as well.
For you who are seeing this letter for the first time, we ask you take a little time to read the information provided. With so much interest taken towards taking care of veterans and families left behind, and rightly so as a veterans organization should, we have incurred rising costs with our Legion Baseball team that we have supported for the youth in our area for over 55 years. The cost of equipment, umpire fees, insurances, and other miscellaneous items have driven the cost to over $6,000.00 per year.
These 18 young boys dedicate the summer with practices and games, and are kept busy competing with 48 teams throughout Maine, as well as the possibility to compete at the Regional and National Championship. With over 60% of all National and American League players that have also played Legion Baseball in their early careers, our local boys set goals and dedicate their summers to quality time.
This will be our 3rd fundraiser, and we are asking local bussinesses and individuals to help keep this great program on track.
Remember that by supporting this program you are also helping our post to continue to give support to our veterans and their families locally and stationed in other parts of the world
Please remember that any amount will be appreciated. Please make checks payable to: LEGION BASEBALL POST 153.
